The Between Space
Last updated: October 2026

Who I am

I am Lia Bradley, trading as The Between Space. I provide psychotherapy and counselling to adults.

For data-protection purposes, I am the controller of the personal information I hold about you. If you have questions about this notice or how I use your information, please contact me at:

lia@thebetweenspace.co.uk

The information I collect

When you contact me, I may collect your name, contact details, and information you choose to share about why you are seeking therapy.

If we begin working together, I may also collect relevant information about your health, wellbeing, life circumstances and therapeutic work, along with brief clinical notes, appointment details, payment information, and emergency-contact details where you provide them.

Information about physical or mental health is treated as special-category personal data and is given additional protection.

Why I use your information

I use your information to:

  • respond to enquiries and arrange sessions;

  • provide psychotherapy and counselling;

  • keep appropriate clinical, appointment and financial records;

  • communicate with you about practical aspects of therapy;

  • receive professional supervision;

  • manage payments, tax and other professional obligations;

  • protect safety where there is a serious concern; and

  • meet legal, insurance or regulatory requirements.

I only collect and keep information that is relevant and necessary for these purposes.

Legal basis for processing

I process personal information where it is necessary to take steps towards, or provide, a therapy contract; to meet legal obligations; to protect vital interests in an emergency; or for the legitimate administration of my practice.

Where therapy involves health information or other special-category data, I process it only where an additional condition under UK data-protection law applies. I do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Confidentiality and sharing

What you share in therapy is treated as confidential. I will only share information without your agreement where there is a serious concern about your safety or another person’s safety, a safeguarding concern, or a legal requirement to disclose it. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first.

I receive confidential clinical supervision to support safe and ethical practice. I use the minimum information necessary and take care to protect your identity.

I may also use trusted providers who help me run my practice, including:

  • TheraFlo, for practice management and clinical records;

  • Google Workspace, for professional email;

  • payment providers;

  • online therapy platforms, where relevant; and

  • professional advisers, such as my accountant, insurer or legal adviser, where necessary.

I do not sell your information or use it for marketing.

Where information is stored

Clinical records are stored securely in TheraFlo. Professional emails are processed through Google Workspace. Financial records are kept separately and securely for accounting and tax purposes.

Online therapy may take place using Google Meet or another appropriate secure platform. Therapy sessions are not routinely recorded.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this applies, I use appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law. You can contact me for further information.

How long I keep information

I retain clinical records for seven years after therapy ends, unless there is a legitimate reason to retain them for longer, such as an ongoing complaint, legal matter, insurance requirement or safeguarding concern.

Enquiries that do not lead to therapy are normally deleted within six months. Financial records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.

When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or destroyed.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, or transfer of information to another organisation.

Where I rely on consent for a specific purpose, you may withdraw it at any time. If I rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object.

To make a request or ask a question, please email lia@thebetweenspace.co.uk. I may need to confirm your identity before responding.

You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office at www.ico.org.uk.

Emergency-contact details

If you provide an emergency contact, please ensure that they know you have given me their details. I would only contact them if there were a serious concern about your immediate safety or wellbeing and I could not contact you, or if there were another serious reason to do so.

Changes to this notice

I may update this notice when my practice, systems or legal obligations change. The current version will always be available on my website.
